Liam Payne is set to be laid to rest later this week. The late One Direction star's body was flown home from Argentina to the United Kingdom earlier this month, as his funeral is set to take place in his hometown of Wolverhampton.

Due to the high-profile nature of the pop star, the event will be private and restricted to those close to him. Because of this, Liam's relatives have been tasked with putting together a guest list - with one name believed to have been left off.

It is understood that Liam's manager, Roger Nores, will not be allowed to attend due to ongoing investigations into his possible involvement in the singer's death on October 16.

The businessman was with Liam, 31, at the Casa Sur hotel in Buenos Aires shortly before he tragically fell from his third floor balcony.

A source reportedly told the press: "Liam's family want his funeral to go off without a hitch and right now opinions are strained when it comes to Roger. It's true he and Liam had a bond but he's never been popular when it comes to Liam's wider circle.

"There is a difference in the narrative, Roger would say he stepped back from working with Liam - others would say he was pushed.

"Many people didn't even know Liam and Roger had reconnected until his fateful trip to Argentina last month. Due to the ongoing investigation in Argentina, he's not welcome at this week's service."

The farewell ceremony for the singer is slated to occur at either St.Peters Church or St Pauls Church in Pendeford, which lies nearer to where Liam grew up.

A source confided to Mail Online: "Liam will have a very big send-off, quite probably at a large cathedral somewhere close to his heart. Liam was so loved by so many people, there will obviously be enormous demand and so the service will necessarily be a huge affair."

Local media have reported Roger was arrested in connection with Liam's death along with two others. Roger has since denied allegations of abandonment but confirmed he had spoken to the police.

Last month's autopsy indicated that Liam died because of "multiple traumas" and "internal and external haemorrhage."

Meanwhile, Argentina's National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor's Office No 16 currently deems the case an "inconclusive death."

The plane returning Liam to British soil broke records for the most followed flight in history, highlighting the magnitude of global grief amongst fans.
