Liam Payne’s GF Kate Cassidy Felt Like She Was In A 'Hostage Situation' Before Leaving Argentina: REPORT

1 month ago 12

Well, this is a very different perspective on Liam Payne‘s final moments with his girlfriend Kate Cassidy.

As Perezcious readers know, Liam and Kate went to Argentina to see Niall Horan perform in early October. They then kept extending their trip, seemingly as Liam was trying to get his U.S. visa renewed. Eventually, all the vacationing got to be too much for Kate, and she left just days before her boyfriend’s death, even though he reportedly begged her to stay. Then, one week ago today (Wednesday), the singer jumped from his hotel balcony. He’d been acting erratically and had several drugs in his system, according to initial autopsy findings. It’s all just so devastating.

Now, it’s being reported that Liam potentially falling off the wagon was sadly one of Kate’s worst fears as she was leaving Argentina. Oh, no…

On Wednesday, one of Kate’s friends told the New York Post that she was conflicted about leaving, but felt she was in a “hostage situation” and needed to get away. The friend shared:

“They’re in Argentina and it’s like a hostage situation. […] So she tells him she wants to leave, this is after a week. He begs her to stay. She keeps extending her trip, a day, two days. And he just wants her to stay, stay, stay.”

She was originally only meant to stay in the country for four days, but the trip lasted more than two weeks. Apparently, Kate agonized over whether or not to leave the vacation without the Teardrops crooner by her side. One big reason she was so unsure is because she felt like the musician was preparing to go on a bender once she was gone. Oof.

Was she seeing red flags? Had his mental health struggles started to show again? Or did she just fear he’d go off the rails because he was so emotional about her leaving? Right now, that part of it is unclear. But it’s harrowing that this was even a thought of hers at all before she left!

Ultimately, Kate had to put her needs first. The pal explained:

“She can’t leave, or else who knows what will happen? And if she leaves, what will he do? But she has other responsibilities, other things that she’s supposed to be doing. So, she finally had to make a decision.”

Addressing claims that she should have stayed by the 31-year-old’s side no matter what, the confidant added:

“I get what people are saying, that she should just stay with her rich, famous boyfriend, but she wanted to be home in her own bed with her dog. She wanted to come home. So eventually she says she’s going home.”

Look, it’s awful what happened to Liam, but this is in no way Kate’s fault. He was a grown adult who made his own decisions. So, she certainly shouldn’t be taking any blame for this tragic outcome!

That said, it is unfortunate that her fears came true. After Kate left, Liam moved around hotels, where he was acting erratically. Just hours before his death, he was partying with two alleged prostitutes, who drank with him. He also had several substances in his body per an autopsy, including cocaine, crack, “pink cocaine,” and more. He’d struggled with addiction and mental health for years, and sadly, hotel workers allegedly took advantage of him in his final days.

The details of Liam’s last days are gut-wrenching, and it’s just as heartbreaking to think that Kate — who just weeks ago was fantasizing about one day getting married — is now sitting at home wondering if she could have prevented this. It seems like she did all she could in her time with him. She had to make a tough call to put her well-being first, and nobody could’ve seen this coming.

We’re sending her SO much love as she mourns his loss.
