Kate Cassidy is continuing to mourn Liam Payne — her boyfriend, and very nearly more.
As Perezcious readers know, the One Direction star was dating Kate at the time of his death last week. They had been on vacation in Argentina together for several weeks until she booked herself a ticket home, despite Liam begging her to stay. Liam moved hotels, started acting erratically, and even partied with other women before he ultimately climbed over the balcony and fell to his death — all this happening just a couple days after Kate’s departure. He had multiple drugs in his system including a mix of drugs called “pink cocaine,” according to initial autopsy findings. It has been said he started to fall off the wagon after his girlfriend left. Oof.

It was apparent Kate had a calming effect on Liam. They really were great together. Now she’s finding a way to wrap her head around his passing.
Paying tribute to her partner, whom she had been dating since 2022, Kate returned to Instagram to write:
“I don’t even know where to begin. My heart is shattered in ways I can’t put into words. I wish you could see the huge impact you’ve had on the world, even as it feels so dark right now. You brought so much happiness and positivity to everyone — millions of fans, your family, friends and especially me. You are so incredibly loved.”
She continued:
“You are — because I can’t say were — my best friend, the love of my life and everyone you touched felt just as special as I did. Your energy was contagious, lighting up every room you walked into.”
Oh, man. The past tense is so hard…
Reflecting on their relationship, the content creator continued:
“None of this feels real, and I can’t wrap my head around this new reality of not having you here. I’m struggling to figure out how to live in a world without you by myself. Together, we got to be kids again, always finding joy in the smallest things.”
She also revealed that just “weeks ago,” the Strip That Down crooner expressed his intent to marry her:
“Liam, you had the kindest soul and the most fun-loving spirit. It feels like I’ve lost the best part of myself. I can’t imagine a day without your laughter and love. You brought so much light into my life. A few weeks ago, we sat outside on a beautiful evening manifesting our lives together. I keep your note close, even though you told me not to look at it. It said, ‘Me and Kate to marry within a year/engaged & together forever 444.’”
Whoa. Sounds like he was trying to manifest that into reality with a sealed note. To know those were his intentions… That must make this all the more heartbreaking for her!
While they won’t ever get to walk down the aisle, she still believes they’ll be “together forever” — just in a different way. Kate wrote:
“Liam, I know we’ll be together forever, but not in the way we had planned. You’ll always be with me. I’ve gained a guardian angel. I will love you for the rest of my life and beyond, carrying our dreams and memories everywhere I go.”
She shared the statement alongside several photos of the couple, as well as a quote explaining the significance of “444,” which noted:
“Sequence number 444 is the favorite sequence of the angels. More often, you will see the number 444 when you are feeling alone. In simple sense, the number 444 reminds you that your angels are always there to support you. When you see this number, you will be assured that you are protected and loved by the angels.”
Aw! Now, he’ll be one of those angels looking out for her. So heartbreaking but sweet at the same time. By the way, she previously broke her silence on this difficult loss, writing in part:
“Liam, my angel. You are everything. I want you to know I loved you unconditionally and completely. I will continue to love you for the rest of my life. I love you Liam.”
