Liam Payne’s Girlfriend Kate Cassidy Reveals Why She Left Argentina Days Before His Death

Liam Payne‘s girlfriend Kate Cassidy has revealed more details about the days leading up to his tragic death.

Four months after he fatally fell from a hotel balcony in Argentina, the influencer—who had dated the former One Direction star since 2022—revealed their final text exchange, which occurred after she left him in South America to go back to their home in Florida.

“Love is so optimistic, and you just hope that everything will work out at the end. Obviously if I knew, if I could see into the future, I would never have left Argentina,” she told The Sun in an interview published Feb. 5.

Kate had been in Argentina with Liam for two weeks before she departed the country without him in order to take care of their rescue dog, Nala, debunking rumors that the two had a fight while on vacation.

“I had a responsibility, we had a responsibility. We had our dog and obviously I never, ever thought this event would occur,” she explained. “It was a tragic accident and no, I never did think [he might die young]. But, you know, we did have our own separate lives — this wasn’t the first time we have travelled separately.”

“I just never thought this would have happened, that it would turn out the way it did,” she added. “It still doesn’t feel fully real for me that he’s not here.”

Kate also revealed one of her last texts she sent to her boyfriend prior to his death.

Excited to show him the final results of her decorating their house for Halloween, Kate said she had written in her message, “I can’t wait for you to get home and see the house.”

Since Liam’s death, Kate revealed she has left their rented Florida mansion and moved back to New Jersey. She also revealed to the outlet that she has been seeing a grief therapist for the last three and a half months.

“From the moment I met Liam, I genuinely believed we were soulmates; he was the most humble, charming, normal person you could ever hope to come across, and genuinely one of the best people I’ve ever met in my life,” she said. “That he won’t be there with me to navigate through this life, that I’ll have to deal with this without him by my side … it’s really hard.”

“I’m trying to be the best I can be, but I feel like my life has changed so much,” she explained. “I think about Liam every second of every day.”
