Lil Wayne Announces 'Tha Carter VI' Release Date via Cetaphil Ad

Lil Wayne’s highly-anticipated Tha Carter VI will finally arrive this summer.

Weezy made the special announcement during a Cetaphil ad called “We’re all a Lil Sensitive,” where he flips the script on his disappointment at not being chosen to perform at this year’s Super Bowl LIX halftime show in his hometown of New Orleans.

With the power of the skin care brand’s line of moisturizing products, Wayne overcomes being told, "It's a different direction this time," and then focuses on helping others navigate life’s “sensitive” situations.

At the end of the ad, Wayne turns down a pair of VIP tickets to a game and says, “Nah. This is time sensitive.” He’s seen putting on a pair of headphones as a door closes in front of him.

A notice posted on the door reads, “Do not disturb ‘til 06-06-25. CARTER VI.”

The fifth album in Wayne’s Tha Carter series dropped in 2018. He’s released several other projects since then, including Welcome 2 Collegrove with 2 Chainz and The Fix Before Tha VI, both released in 2023.

Wayne teased the oft-delayed Tha Carter VI several times in the past. One of those instances was during the 2022 Young Money Reunion Concert.

The timing of the announcement also conveniently lands on Feb. 6, the first of two Lil Wayne days as certified by New Orleans' entertainment ambassador, Master P, at Lil Weezyana Fest last November.

Lil Wayne’s Cetaphil ad will air exclusively in New Orleans during Super Bowl LIX on Sunday.

“What attracted me to this project was the chance to flip the script,” Wayne said about the ad to Rolling Stone. “Showing a sensitive side isn’t a weakness—it’s a power. There’s nothing more real than turning those types of moments into a display of strength.”

He continued, “This campaign made perfect sense to me. The world knew I was disappointed, but what they didn’t know was that it made me determined to deliver something way bigger.”
