Linda McMahon WWE Videos Go Viral After Trump Education Secretary Pick

Several videos of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) co-founder Linda McMahon's greatest moments in the ring have gone viral after Donald Trump nominated her as secretary of education.

McMahon founded WWE in 1980 with her husband Vince McMahon, and it is now the largest pro-wrestling promotion in the world.

She occasionally appeared in on-screen roles between 1999 and 2007 as a fictionalized version of herself, the chief executive, getting into fights with the wrestlers and her family.

Early Wednesday morning, Trump-critical group Republicans Against Trump posted to X, formerly Twitter, a July 2003 clip where wrestler Kane performed a "tombstone" on McMahon, picking her up upside down, holding her belly-to-belly, and dropping her on her back.

"Meet Trump's new Secretary of Education nominee Linda McMahon," the account wrote in the caption. The video was viewed 125,200 times by Wednesday morning.

Other clips from her past performances also circulated online.

User @SumitHansd, who has made posts praising Trump and criticizing Joe Biden in the past, posted another clip to X, also from 2003, showing McMahon having an altercation in the ring with her daughter Stephanie.

"You know mom, just remember, like you told me when I was a little girl, this is gonna hurt me a lot worse than it hurts you," Stephanie said in the video, throwing a slap, only for it to be intercepted by McMahon who slaps her daughter back, knocking her to the ground while the crowd cheers.

Frequent Trump-critic @Mollyploofkins posted another 2003 clip to X where legendary wrestler Stone Cold Steve Austin is in the ring with McMahon, congratulating her after the two have conspired together to take out the other members of her family, who are lying unconscious on the ground.

Austin thanks McMahon before betraying her with a kick to the chest and delivering a "stone-cold stunner" on her, leaving her sprawled on the floor.

Newsweek has contacted Trump's transition team via email for comment.

Trump announced that he was nominating McMahon for education secretary on Tuesday night, in a Truth Social post, writing, "Linda has been a fierce advocate for Parents' Rights, working hard at both AFPI [America First Policy Institute] and America First Works (AFW) to achieve Universal School Choice in 12 States, giving children the opportunity to receive an excellent Education, regardless of zip code or income."

"As Secretary of Education, Linda will fight tirelessly to expand 'Choice' to every State in America, and empower parents to make the best Education decisions for their families," Trump added.

But McMahon may face difficulties in her Senate confirmation hearing.

Last month, she and her husband were named as defendants in a lawsuit which states that the "defendants allegedly allowed open, rampant abuse of underage boys employed by WWE."
