Little Mix's Jade Thirlwall laughs off Noel Gallagher's savage words to boyfriend

Little Mix's Jade Thirlwall has opened up about her "feud" with Oasis songwriter Noel Gallagher, considering the 57-year-old rocker's brutal reaction to her band's Brit Awards win as a badge of honour.

After Little Mix received the Best British Group award in 2021, Gallagher, whose band Oasis had won the same award 25 years earlier, grumbled: "Little Mix, with the greatest respect, are not in the same league as Oasis. Not even in the same f***ing sport."

Jade, 32, found Gallagher's response amusing, telling podcaster Louis Theroux: "I love that I've ended up in some sort of tiff with one of the Gallaghers," However, Jade's boyfriend, Rizzle Kicks frontman Jordan Stephens, tried to get an apology from Gallagher when he ran into him at Glastonbury that same year.

Jade recalls Jordan being rudely dismissed when he confronted the rocker: "He said 'I'm going to go over and say something' So I said 'alright, give it a go. He went over, and he said 'You were really rude about my girlfriend. Do you want to apologise? ' and [Noel] went: 'F*** off! '" "I thought 'You know what? Fair play.' I just thought it was really funny, you can't really argue with that."

Jade has quipped that a feaud with a Gallagher is practically a showbiz rite of passage, saying: "It's the same as getting a hate-tweet from Azealia Banks, or hearing Piers Morgan insult you on his YouTube channel."

She likened amassing celebrity fallouts to snatching up Marvel's Avengers' "Infinity Stones". Noel Gallagher is notorious for triggering tiffs with other stars, taking digs at everyone including Prince Harry, James Blunt, Robbie Williams, Dave Grohland even his own brother Liam, reports the Manchester Evening News.

However, Jade acknowledges there's some truth in Gallagher's jibes. Reflecting on Little Mix's brand of pop compared to traditional bands like Oasis, she said, "I don't know why he was comparing us, actually," suggesting Gallagher might just be after attention.

"That's part of his brand," she noted.

As part of his outraged reaction to Little Mix's award Gallagher had previously taken a swipe at modern musicians, particularly targeting those who emerged post-Oasis, accusing them of being too friendly with their audiences during gigs.

Little Mix have become one Britain's biggest selling acts and one of the best-selling girl groups of all time, with estimated sales of over 75 million records worldwide.

He remarked contemptuously, "There aren't that many bands that would do a gig like that now where there's virtually no interaction with the audience."

On bands thanking their fan base, Gallagher scoffed, "Modern bands about today would be a sermon about how 'we're not worthy to be here and you're our fans, you're amazing, and without you . . . ' F*** off."

He singled out Coldplay's Chris Martin and implied a general decline in rock stars since his own 1990s heyday.

"We were kind of like, 'We don't have to remind people why they're here. They're f***ing here to see us. But we live in a world now where you have to tell people how amazing they are because they get upset."
