Lorraine Kelly reveals two shows she 'could never' appear on while contemplating future

3 weeks ago 2

Lorraine Kelly has addressed her future on her popular ITV morning show, while naming two programmes she would never do.

The 64-year-old recently marked 40 years on television screens. In that time she has presented on shows such as Good Morning Britain, Daybreak, This Morning, and the eponymous Lorraine.

Her illustrious career was honoured with the BAFTA Special Award. Judges praised her as an "unstoppable and impressive" force in daytime TV.

The star also became a grandmother this year, as daughter Rosie welcomed her own baby girl Billie with partner Steve. And, along with celebrating her 40 years on screen, she says it has been a good time to look back on her career, as well as ahead to the future

In a heartfelt chat with Platinum magazine, Lorraine said: "Obviously, Billie is the biggest thing to happen, but I've also been celebrating 40 years on TV, so there's been a lot of wee celebrations, it's been lovely. While I'm looking forward to Christmas, I'm also looking forward to New Year's Eve because it's a great time to look ahead but also look back on the year you've had."

This year saw Lorraine taking part in The Masked Singer, a popular show where celebrities perform on stage disguised in fancy dress. The panel of judges then have to try and figure out which celebrity is behind the mask.

Performing as an owl, Lorraine was eliminated in week five. McFly singer Danny Jones, who was dressed as a piranha, won the show.

And while she enjoyed taking part in The Masked Singer, Lorraine says there are two programmes in particular that are off the table. The Scottish presenter continued: "I'm very much at that stage in my life where I'm like, 'oh yeah, I'll have a go at that!'

"Don't get me wrong, I could never do I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! or Strictly Come Dancing, I must add. But I think it's really good to challenge yourself and really enjoy every day. I'm very lucky to do a job that I love doing, working with an amazing team who keep me young."

Since its inception in September 2010, Lorraine's daytime show has been a staple, airing on weekdays at 9am. Discussing her tenure on the show with Woman's Own magazine, Lorraine stated, "I've always said if the day comes when I don't really want to go to work, I will stop."
