Louise Thompson has appeared to confirm her brother Sam Thompson's split from Zara McDermott and made their future clear.

The former Made In Chelsea star is close to her sibling Sam and was regularly seen with his Love Island girlfriend Zara. They even live next door to each other in their stunning London homes, yet their dynamic was rocked this week amid reports Sam and Zara have split. The pair have been together since 2019, yet have called time on their romance.

Neither Sam or Zara have spoke out amid the breakdown of their relationship and spent Christmas and New Year's Eve apart from each other. Louise is also yet to make comment on the split, yet shared a post to Instagram where she had a 'bury and burn ritual' in her garden following "one of the best and worst years" of her life.

Her post was shared amid news of her brother's breakup and one fan took it as an opportunity to ask about how they will move forward. A social media user said: "Hope you don't just drop Zara." Louise appeared to make a defiant statement about her future friendship with Zara as she liked the post.

Another fan pointed out: "Liking this comment has basically confirmed the split for us all!!" The couple were last seen together in December celebrating Zara's birthday as Sam shared a post calling her his "soulmate" and hinted at a potential engagement. Louise also attended a birthday lunch for Zara just a few weeks ago, having previously struggled with the couple getting back together following their cheating scandal.

At the time of Zara's birthday, Sam wrote: "My best friend, and soul mate….some would say my person. I’m afraid you’re stuck with me forever happy birthday. I love you so much, and wow have I missed you over the past month! Here’s to another amazing year with you." News of their split came as a surprise to fans following the declaration of love.

However, many have suggested that Zara cheating on Sam in 2019 may have affected their relationship. In the 2019 edition of The X Factor: Celebrity, it was revealed that Zara cheated on Sam with Brahim Fouradi, a music industry executive who has worked on talent shows such as The X Factor as part of his duties as A&R director at Simon Cowell's company Syco. It's understood this breach of trust had a profound effect on Sam.

Sam ended their 16-month relationship in September 2020 after he got wind of her affair with Brahim. Zara admitted to being unfaithful in now-iconic scenes shown on the E4 reality show, aired in 2020. At the time, Sam was widely criticised for accepting Zara's apology and taking her back, while Zara also faced abuse online for her actions.

A friend has told MailOnline: "Zara and Sam's relationship just never had felt like it was heading for the long haul. They never really recovered from Zara's cheating, most couples would have struggled lasting for as long as they did afterwards. Zara had some big making up to do, especially with Louise, she really wasn't happy when Sam took her back. But she managed to make it work and they had some great times together again, but it just felt like it was never going to be truly serious. They were delaying the inevitable for several months as they had drifted apart and their lives had become very different."

The Mirror has contacted Louise's representative for comment.
