Kieran Culkin has revealed he didn't know big brother Macaulay Culkin was the star of Home Alone - until the premiere.
The 42-year-old, who is best known for shows like Succession these days, also starred in the 1990 original movie, which remains a Christmas classic almost 35 years on. In the film Kieran plays Fuller McCallister, the younger cousin of the movie's lead, Kevin McCallister, who gets accidentally left home alone at Christmas when his family leave for France.
But even though his brother seemed to be one set 'all the time', it didn't click for a then six-year-old Kieran until they went to the launch night of the movie. Though to be fair, it wasn't really his fault - as he shared he was actually duped by one of his older cast members.
He said: "Devin Ratray, the guy who plays Buzz, lied to me and told me the movie was all about him. I had no idea what the movie was about when I saw it - and I was in it! I was at the premiere, and I was dying laughing. It was the funniest thing I had ever seen. I had no idea what the movie was about."

That makes sense the movie would be about him."' Kieran shared how he was told at the time: "Drink this Coke, wear the glasses, say the thing that you memorised, look cute and go home."
The film was shot at the beginning of 1990 and released on December 7 that year in the UK. It catapulted a then nine-year-old Macaulay Culkin to global fame and he went on to star in Home Alone in 1992 and other hit Nineties films such as My Girl and Richie Rich before 'retiring' from acting at the age of 14. Though the 44-year-old has since appeared in shows like Will & Grace and American Horror Story.
Little brother Kieran has also achieved notable success as an actor and even won an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his performance as Roman Roy in HBO series Succession, which ended in September last year. Now he's set to star in A Real Pain, alongside Zombieland star Jesse Eisenberg and Dirty Dancing legend Jennifer Grey, which tells the story of mismatched cousins David and Benji travelling to Poland to honour their grandmother.
Kieran and Jesse didn't know each other before making A Real Pain, but when Jesse was seven and Home Alone came out, he admits he saw the movie 17 times! But though he was only young himself when he starred in it, Kieran hasn't shown it to his own kids just yet.
He shares five-year-old daughter Kinsey and son Wilder, three, with model wife Jazz Charton. But he told E News!: "There’s still some scary parts. For the 3-year-old, there's the tarantula and there’s the guy at the end who said, 'I’m gonna bite off all your fingers. ' That’s scary for a 3-year-old." But he added: "We think they might be ready for Home Alone this year. If not, next year.”
