The Southern Charm cast is reacting to JT Thomas‘ resignation from the show. It all happened very dramatically when the former Bravolebrity quit unexpectedly over social media. Naturally, viewers are expecting to get the other side of the story. Madison LeCroy and Austen Kroll, among the other castmates, are sharing their reactions.
Perhaps Austen’s reaction would be the most interesting to Southern Charm viewers given the animosity between himself and JT last season. During the Season 9 reunion, the former Bravolebrity said he wanted to “perform the first f*ck boy exorcism” on Austen. So his reaction is perhaps the most sought-after.
Madison LeCroy thinks JT Thomas was planning to ditch Southern Charm “from the very beginning”
Austen and his ex-girlfriend told Us Weekly how they received JT’s resignation.
“I think it became more of this, like, he caught the house on fire and then stepped away when everyone had a reaction — and not a good one,” Madison shared. “He was no longer wanted in the group.”
The influencer questioned JT’s motives “from the very beginning.” Madison thinks he didn’t fit with the cast, as Southern Charm is meant to be “about a group of people that are friends or trying to be friends.”
She added, “He realized really quick that wasn’t going to last.”
Madison referred to “the smallest man who ever lived” in a social media post, setting the tone for how she felt about JT’s departure. Despite cast members generally stating they would quit “at least twice a season,” the Bravolebrity was “a little shocked” that he went through with it.
“He would run around with that idea [he’d leave] throughout the season,” Madison revealed.
Us Weekly asked if JT took the “Karen’s way out,” and Madison laughed. She answered, “He’s a Karen too. Yeah, coward, for sure. I mean, that’s the best way to describe it. When things start to get tough, you can’t just walk away.”
But Southern Charm will be “just fine” sans JT. She added, “He seems to always impress me, but not in a good way.”
Austen Kroll thinks JT Thomas couldn’t “take accountability”
As for Austen, he had more direct beef with JT after JT took him to task for his treatment of the women he dated. However, the Pillows And Beer podcast cohost suggested that his rival simply couldn’t handle the scrutiny of his own shortcomings.
“The announcement was a bit grandiose. My take is that — I mean the hypocrisy of it all is crazy,” Austen said. “The second that a mirror gets held in his face, rather than own it and take accountability he just [splits].”
JT’s farewell notice mirrored what he “said at the reunion,” according to Austen.
“I mean, I can’t wait for everyone to figure out exactly who you are,” he explained. “You can wear the mask that you put on last season for only so long and it will be taken off and you will be seen.”
The subject of JT’s potential return, should he walk back his decision came up.
“I don’t see a path back.” Austen said before referring to Venita Aspen as the only ally JT had. “I don’t think that Venita’s very pleased with him.”
