'Magical' TV star who once 'saved father's life' dies after fatal car crash

Naked and Afraid contestant Sarah Danser has died following a fatal car crash. She was sat in the passenger seat when the car lost control and hit a parked vehicle in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Tributes are pouring in for Sarah Danser, known for starring on Naked and Afraid in 2017. Her family say she will be “greatly missed” after a 59-year-old man lost control of a vehicle while she sat in the car.

Sarah Danser has died after a fatal car accident in Honolulu, Hawaii. She was killed when a 59-year-old man lost control of their vehicle and crashed into a parked car in Kahala in Honolulu.

At age 34, Danser, who sat in the passenger seat, was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. She succumbed to her injuries on October 22, while the driver of the car remains in hospital.

A woman in the parked vehicle was hospitalized, while the man she was sat next to refused treatment, Honolulu police said. Cops indicated that while speed was a factor, drugs or alcohol weren’t involved.

‘Magical’ Sarah ‘saved Dad’s life’

Sarah was described as “magical” by her brother, while her father revealed she saved his life. He told KSLA, “I saw how much of a difference she made in the lives of others. I think she saved my life once.”

They were “diving in Indonesia,” her father, Dan Danser, added. At the time of her death, Sarah worked at Island Divers Hawaii. The scuba diving center paid tribute and said she was a “good friend”.

“Heavy hearts as we say goodbye to a great captain. Sarah brought such great energy to everyone she came in contact with. You will be greatly missed,” they wrote on Facebook Thursday.

“Magical is the way to describe her,” Sarah’s brother, Jake Danser, told KSLA. “Sarah had this positive energy about her that just really filled the environment that she was in.”

She ate snails on Naked and Afraid

Sarah is remembered for eating a thick layer of mucus around raw snails to survive in the wild. She was desperate for food at the time, but the snail, at 90 calrories, did not go down easily.

She set out to “devour” them but gave herself a pep talk to eat the snails. Sarah had found several of them at 8.43am in the morning, but her on-screen buddy, Ben, was “not hungry enough”.

Danser said, “Ben is never excited about anything I’m excited about. I know these snails so I feel pretty good, like I’ve already had a successful hunting mission.”
