A man on a flight to Miami, Florida, was left shocked when his phone charger turned into something completely unexpected.
Jeremy Franco posted a video of the mistake he made on TikTok via @jezbreezy, garnering more than 7.7 million views and thousands of comments from amused viewers. In the clip, Franco says that he brought what he thought was just a regular phone charger but, when he plugged it in, it had intense flashing lights.
"I got the charger from Kmart in a rush because planes don't have USB C, so I needed a USB charger quick!" Franco told Newsweek. "I grabbed the first white one I could see and ripped it open instantly to shove into my suitcase."
He continued: "It was dark on the plane when I plugged it in innocently, and when I saw what happened, I pulled it out so quick.
"I spent about 40 minutes trying to decide what to do because I needed to charge my phone as I had a four-hour bus ride directly after I landed, so I had to wrap the cord in my blanket and charge it under the covers."
Franco says in the video: "Look at it. It's clear, it's white, it's very unassuming."
"Imagine the shock horror on my face when this happened," he adds, revealing the flashing lights that come on when he pulled it into the port under the screen in front of him on his flight.
"I literally had no other option," Franco wrote in the caption of the video.
Phone charging facilities have been introduced by a number of airlines in recent years as domestic air travel in the U.S. reaches new highs. According to Statista, 819 million passengers flew between U.S. airports in 2023.
Franco's video received more than 1 million likes, as well as a slew of comments from people sharing their reactions.
Jess commented: "This makes me forgive someone across the aisle from me 4 months ago so thank you for the closure."
"The charger said MIAMI," posted Kiara.
