A man stopped in his tracks at home when he thought a random cat was hanging out in the hallway, but as he got closer to investigate, his laughter quickly took over.
Kai Plummer from Texas, known on TikTok as @definitely_kai_13, saw something sitting at the end of the hallway out of the corner of his eye. Its shape looked like a cat with two pointy ears, but he knew there was no way it could be one. He doesn't own a cat.
"I glanced down the hallway because I saw a light on that I forgot to turn off," Plummer told Newsweek via email. "I saw it almost immediately and thought it was a cat."
It wouldn't be the first time a cat sneaked into someone's home. Plummer noted hearing and seeing other videos of that happening. For instance, a man recently woke up in the middle of the night to a random feline warming up his toes. Knowing it could happen, Plummer thought the cat distribution system finally hit him and his home. He immediately grabbed his phone to start recording this exciting moment.
Plummer started walking down the hallway, intrigued about his potential new furry friend. However, the shape started coming into focus. It wasn't a cat at all. Instead, it was his shoes laid out on the ground. The way his shoes were placed together made it seem like a feline was sitting in a loaf position. Even the top of one shoe looked like the cat's ears from afar.
Plummer admitted in the text on the video: "I'm blind as h*ll yall."
"When I realized it wasn't [a cat], I had a good laugh at myself for realizing my own eyes had tricked me," Plummer said.
He wasn't the only one whose eyes deceived him. With his video receiving over 25 million views on TikTok as of Wednesday, people flooded the comment section in agreement that they were thrown off.
"Nah this is a matrix glitch. THAT WAS A CAT??" posted one viewer.
Another added: "No way … I saw a cat too 100%."
A third person commented: "I love how he went from 'I don't have a cat' to 'Here, kitty kitty.'"
Others believed this was a sign: "The cat distribution system is warning you."
Plummer wouldn't be upset if the cat distribution system came to his house. He said he would love to have a feline, but his allergies tend to get in the way.
"I feel like taking some allergy meds is a small price to pay to have an adorable new member of the family."
