Marcel Somerville’s soon to be ex-wife has broken her silence on social media following his brutal dumping from the Love Island All Stars villa.

Rebecca Vieirax, who is finalising her divorce from 39 year old Marcel after splitting from him last year, posted a photo in which she is posing in a pink sarong and cropped top, but did not comment on her former partner’s departure from the dating series.

Marcel and Olivia Hawkins were ousted at the end of the episode on Wednesday 22 January, as the Islanders gathered around the firepit to discover the result of a public vote. Viewers had been asked to choose the most compatible couple, and the pair with the fewest votes was revealed to be Marcel and Olivia. As they left, they told host Maya Jama they were happy to be leaving together, with Liv hinting she could be ready for her first boyfriend. Marcel, meanwhile, told the presenter he was happy to be with Liv and to have sorted past issues with ex Gabby Allen.

Despite their early exit after just over a week in the villa, Marcel told host Maya: "I feel like we had a really good, compatible relationship." Olivia also suggested that they'd grown closer than ever in recent days, saying: "I feel the last two days we got so close."

Before he went into the villa in South Africa, Marcel opened up about the moment he told his wife Rebecca that he would be appearing on the series. “I had to tell Rebecca that I wasn’t going to be around for a few weeks," he reveals. "She said: ‘I can't believe this. I can't believe this is happening.’"

He continued: "But she's got to a point of understanding that our relationship has broken down. We’re going through a divorce. It’s got to get to a point where we have to start moving forward and living our lives separately.

"For Rebecca Love Island was a shock. She wasn't expecting it to happen, but she’s become accepting of the situation because she made a mistake. I can’t put my life on hold when opportunities like this come up.”

He also spoke about reconnecting with his ex, Gabby, who is also in the All Stars villa and who he hadn’t spoken to in six years before the new series began. “We saw each other after the drama ensued and we had a heart to heart conversation and hugged at the end of it. I haven't seen her since," he said before entering the villa. "So obviously if she was to go back in there, I don't think it would be awkward or anything between us. Gabby is a lovely person. We could be friends and I might even end up her wingman in there.”
