Legendary actor Mark Hamill was one of many entertainers who rushed to evacuate their home in Malibu, California as new wildfires edged close to their home. The “Star Wars” alum opened up about the speedy evacuation via social media and fans are flooding his post with love and support.
Mark Hamill & His Family Are Safe Away From Malibu
Late on January 7, Hamill posted a short note on his Instagram page. “Personal Fire Update: 7pm-Evacuated Malibu so last-minute there were small fires on both sides of the road as we approached PCH,” he wrote.
CBS News noted the “PCH” refers to the Pacific Coast Highway which goes through Malibu. At one point during the evening of January 7, the PCH was closed in the Malibu area.
The media outlet reported that emergency personnel urged drivers to leave their cars due to how close the flames were to the highway.
Hamill’s note on Instagram indicated that at 8:15 p.m., he, his wife Marilou, and their dog Trixie arrived at their daughter Chelsea’s home located in Hollywood. “Most horrific fire since ’93,” he shared. He also urged everybody to “STAY SAFE!”
In the caption of his post, Hamill added, “* there ‘were’ small fires* ^ (gimme a break- we were fleeing for our lives).”
