Marvel Rivals’ players are saying the same thing about Central Park – and they’re right

Marvel Rivals’ Season 1.5 has introduced a variety of new content to eager players, from the arrival of The Thing and Human Torch to a brand new map, set in a version of Dracula’s Central Park. But not all are a fan of this new map.

One of the best things about a game like Marvel Rivals is that no match is the same. Whether you’re playing a different game mode or diving in with new players, you’re bound to have to fight differently, use different heroes, or work with your team in a unique way.

The same goes for the game’s maps, all of which sport different obstacles and techniques. However, Central Park seems to have a few more obstacles than players are comfortable with, and they’re absolutely right.

Marvel Rivals’ Central Park branded “claustrophobic” by confused players

Central Park is a relatively condensed map, that happens to look nothing like the Central Park you may stumble across in New York City. It’s filled with ominous rituals, various levels, a prison, traps, and of course multiple spawn points, with some teleporting you.

However, while it’s certainly a unique design, many players are slamming the map, calling it “claustrophobic” and claiming it’s far too cramped to be an enjoyable experience.

“Map looks cool but it feels like it’s too crammed and not enough space” shared one player on the game’s Reddit. They went on to explain that “a big part of the map is basically just one-way road/stairs, and it feels like you’re charging up D-Day against bunkers and taking million fires.”

Others echoed the same sentiment, sharing how Central Park “looks beautiful, but too clustered.” The beautiful red glow and a multitude of design features certainly set the map apart from the likes of Midtown or other traditional looks.

Fans instantly saw a mechanical issue with the map layout, commenting: “That’s my big issue, a well-placed Punisher turret turns that flight of stairs into landing at Omaha… and with two pits either side there’s not much room to maneuver unless you can fly or jump”

Naturally, as of 1.5 a few heroes have emerged as deadly, with players calling for Bucky to be consistently banned, and Storm & Human Torch becoming one of the most broken team-ups. However, with the layout of Central Park, it seems Punisher will quickly rise in the ranks too.

Ultimately, while there’s nothing wrong with a complicated map or a condensed location, this can lead to a select few heroes thriving in the space, while others feel completely useless. Combine that with the crammed space and flight of stairs for the Punisher’s turrets and it could create an entirely new meta.

There’s no denying the map is smaller and more complex than the likes of Midtown, and that will be confusing for many players. However, it’s vital to remember that as fans learn the map, they’ll be able to utilize those notorious stairs or the different spawn points.

Sure, it’s a lot smaller than other maps and is undeniably complicated to get around, but in time, great players will thrive in Central Park.
