At this point, it’s common news that the OnePlus 13 will launch in China tomorrow. Obviously, we would get all of the specs on the phone at launch, but the Chinese telecommunications authority TENAA (similar to the Federal Communications Commission in the U.S.) recently shared an almost complete specs list. Since it’s coming from an official agency, this is information that you can pretty much take at face value.

According to the certification, the OnePlus 13 will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and will come with a 4.1GHz CPU, and have a 6,000mAh battery. We already knew most of these details from previous leaks, but it’s good to see them confirmed.

The screen is 6.82 inches, with a 1440p resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate for smooth video and animations. The front selfie camera is 32MP, while the primary, ultrawide, and telephoto lenses on the back are each 50MP.

As far as memory goes, the OnePlus 13 starts at 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, but can go as high as 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. The battery will also support 100-watt wired and 50W wireless charging, again confirming several rumors we had heard before. What’s more interesting is that the OnePlus 13 is also said to support external batteries and that it has a charging puck with extra cooling features.

The phone measures 162mm by 76.5mm by 8.5 mm and weighs a mere 213 grams, or just under half a pound. Based on this size, the OnePlus 13 looks thinner than the OnePlus 12, but has smaller bezels.

The funny thing about this confirmation is that nearly all of these specs were leaked ahead of time from various insiders. At this point, not much about the OnePlus 13’s hardware is a surprise. What we don’t know is how well the OnePlus 13 will work or how smoothly it will run. Based on previous iterations, it’s set to be a heck of a phone — but anyone outside of China will have to wait until 2025 to find out.

OnePlus will launch the latest version of its smartphone software, OxygenOS 15, on October 24. It is based on Android 15 and follows several months of Android 15 beta releases that began in May after the Google I/O developer conference and which were made available on various OnePlus devices.

Paired with the tagline of “Speed and AI,” the company says the software will be “equipped with industry-leading Fast&Smooth experience, meaningful new AI features, and a distinctive design style that highlights OnePlus’ personality. OxygenOS 15 is set to be the fastest and most user-friendly OxygenOS ever.”

One of 2024’s best $500 phones may get an impressive successor

A close-up of the OnePlus logo on the OnePlus 12R.

The rumor mill is churning with exciting news about OnePlus' upcoming midrange contender, the OnePlus 13R. According to Digital Chat Station, leaked information suggests this phone could pack a serious punch thanks to a powerful all-new Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset and a massive 6,000 mAh battery for all-day endurance.
The new phone could also offer a 1.5K flat display. Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the rumored camera setup featuring a Sony IMX906 primary sensor and a 50MP telephoto lens for capturing detailed zoom shots.
Android Authority first noted that the new report doesn't mention the OnePlus 13R by name. Instead, it's likely talking about the company's next Ace device. However, that lineup is only released in China and rebranded for global markets. For example, the Ace 2 became the OnePlus 11R, while the Ace 3 became the highly-rated OnePlus 12R.

One point of contention for Android Authority regarding the phone discussed by Digital Chat Station is the chipset. While the leak mentions the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, it says the phone might include the slightly less powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 to reduce costs — at least in areas outside of China.
Where could OnePlus release a phone worldwide with Qualcomm's next chip? The long-rumored OnePlus 13. The company’s next flagship phone should offer a 6.82-inch BOE X2 display with 2K resolution. It may also support 100-watt wired charging and 50W wireless charging.
With an expected announcement very soon, the OnePlus 13 and 13R are poised to make waves in the smartphone world. Their predecessors, the OnePlus 12 and OnePlus 12R, remain top contenders in the market, setting a high bar for these upcoming releases. Both phones are anticipated to be available worldwide before the end of the year or early January.

The OnePlus 13 may have a cool display feature we’ve never seen before

The OnePlus 12's screen.

The OnePlus 13 has been making waves as one of the most anticipated upcoming phones, especially as leak after leak has emerged about its features and design. We take most of those leaks with skepticism, just in case something isn't totally spot-on, but now we have news straight from OnePlus itself: the OnePlus 13 can adjust the refresh rates for different parts of the screen.

That's an interesting feature we haven't seen before, and it has big implications for power efficiency. The OnePlus 13 is also set to have a 6,000mAh battery. That will provide a lot of battery life, but what if even more could be drawn out by making small adjustments on the fly?
