Matty Healy and Azealia Banks got into a heated argument on social media after she suggested Charli XCX isn't pretty anymore. The fight escalated as Banks insulted The 1975 frontman's fiancée, and Healy threatened to "slap" the rapper in a now-deleted tweet.
The back-and-forth kicked off after Banks quote-tweeted an old video of Charli XCX.
"Charli used to be soooo pretty," she wrote. "Ugh. Boaaa, I swear them weho gays be having the girls questioning themselves meanwhile they all scraping k off a cookie sheet, eating cold bossanova and sharing panties. Tuh."
Healy, who is bandmates with Charli's fiancé George Daniel, caught wind of her comments.
"Azealia you seem to have a blind spot when it comes to your 'reads.' All the women you attack seem to be culturally relevant, attractive, divisive and NICE people," he wrote. "I think this make you jealous cos you're so talented but everything else about you is a failure. Just rap bro."
He followed up by bringing up his fiancée, model Gabbriette Bechtel, and said he would "dox and fuck up" anyone who says "ONE thing about my Gabi."
Banks hit back by insulting Bechtel. "The bitch look like Frankenstein to me," she wrote. "You both look like you share needles Lmao. What type of pussy ass n***a goes online and incriminates himself this way? Lmfao a man could slap the shit out of Gabi and you wouldn't do a damn thing. You're too busy kissing men on stage for clout."
In a since-deleted follow-up, Healy threatened Banks.
"I know you think your life is some episode of the library is open but I am not the one," he wrote. "Talk to me like that I'm not gonna side eye you at an awards do I'll fucking slap you so hard I'll get a Guinness world record for the highest a rat some bitch calls a wig has ever flown."
Banks then doubled down on her thoughts about Charli XCX's appearance and suggested Healy was only replying to her because she publicly criticized his brief relationship with Taylor Swift.
"Taylor dumped him after I pointed out how inappropriate it was for her to be dating a homosexual heroin addict," she wrote.
Shortly after their argument went viral, Healy apologized for his comments.
"We should sort this out on the remix," he wrote. "I can't be saying I'm gonna hit a girl that's insane I'm sorry. You just can't keep being so mean about my mates and my mrs it's really hurtful gets me well defensive. ... She'd fuckin batter me tbf."
He added that he was "just trying to match [her] vibe" and wanted to stick up for his friends.
Banks responded with an extensive tweet, which included a close-up photo of Healy's face.
"Stick up for these jibs dear, they look like white castle burger onions," she wrote. "It's clear you do not floss enough, don't use the right toothpaste, should quit cigs, and you wait till after coffee to brush your teeth."
She suggested that his gums look "inflamed" and suggested he invest in better dental hygiene products. "You should really work on these teeth and try to hydrate a bit more, you look like your spit is salty," she wrote.
She also showed some of her DMs to the artist, who apologized for losing his temper. He called her "a legend" and she suggested he was "inciting racial violence" against her.
"If I thought this would hit you deep I would never said anything I'm sorry man," he wrote. "I was just telling you to shut up. I did it badly."
She concluded by implying that she would be filing a lawsuit against him.
Talk about a "let them fight" situation.
Banks has often found herself in online spats with other artists, most recently getting into it with Lil Nas X after she said he fell off.
