Maura reportedly dated Barry's son Shane before she went on Love Island in 2019, the show which catapulted her to fame thanks to her quick wit, personality and ability to stand up for herself.
Shane works as a boxing coach, having followed his father into the sport, and works in London where he runs a gym.
He has been involved with training a number of incredible fighters including Lee McGregor and Chantelle Cameron.
The former pair met in 2018, and it is not known how long they may have dated for - perhaps we will get more insight when Maura and Barry meet in the jungle.
It is not known if Maura and Barry have previously met due to their connection through Shane.
Shane and Maura are thought to have met at a David Haye vs Tony Bellew match where Maura was working as a ring girl and Shane was commentating on the event for a radio show.
However, it's been said their romance was "short-lived."
According to The Sun, their romance fizzled out due to struggling with long-distance.
At the time, Maura still lived in Ireland, while Shane lived and worked in South West London.
An insider said: "Maura has brains and beauty and she quickly caught Shane's eye. They got chatting and had instant chemistry so of course he asked her out.
"At the time Maura lived in Ireland, and Shane was running his boxing gym in London, and she was travelling a lot for work so it wasn't easy to pull off.
"There were no hard feelings when it ended. It turned out to be short lived and the spark fizzled out."
Shane is now engaged to Taylor West and they have two sons, Finley, who arrived in 2022, and Calean who they welcomed in 2024.
Maura has been romantically connected Pete Wicks, Giovanni Pernice and Bobby Holland Hanton since leaving Love Island.
Boxer Barry and his wife Sandra are parents to three sons, Shane, Jake and Blane, and daughter Danika - known as Nika - who passed away in 2019 at age 33 shortly after being diagnosed with cancer.
