Mauricio Umansky’s Alleged Unpaid California Tax Scandal: Details

3 hours ago 4

Most of Mauricio Umansky’s drama has been between his estranged wife while airing on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. However, news recently surfaced about some issues that Mauricio might have had when it came to paying his United States income taxes. And as any American knows, the IRS doesn’t take kindly to those who allegedly try to cheat the system.

Mauricio Umansky has been slapped with liens

According to The Daily Mail, Mauricio is looking at some heavy fines. The outlet reported The Agency owner was hit with a “new set of tax liens following his $31,000 unsettled debt from previous years.” Mauricio was given four new tax liens that equated to $20,000. The liens were filed in the Los Angeles County Recorder’s Office. Paperwork was filed against him, UMRO Realty Group, and The Agency.

The legal documents show that four of his real estate offices in California have unpaid taxes from 2024. The most overdue is for the flagship office in Beverly Hills. This is where Buying Beverly Hills was filmed for two seasons before being canceled. The total unpaid taxes are $12,664.88. The second tax lien is in Calabasas for $4,732.14, another lien is for The Agency’s Sherman Oaks office, which is for $2,373.92. The fourth and final tax lien is for the Marina Del Rey office for a total of $297.16. In total, Mauricio is said to owe the government $20,068.10.

This isn’t Mauricio Umansky’s first time with the IRS

The outlet previously reported that The Agency founder still had unpaid taxes from both 2022 and 2023. The total for the earlier two years is calculated at $31,464.50 in unpaid taxes. In December 2023, The Agency was smacked with three liens that amounted to $4,673.64, $3,878.19, and $290.15. In 2022, The Agency was given four more liens: $16,777.97, $3,454.41, $2,120.67, and $269.47.

Again, the earlier tax liens were issued for both his companies, UMRO Realty Corp and The Agency, in the care of Mauricio. The exact four locations, Calabasas, Marina Del Rey, Pasadena, Beverly Hills, and Sherman Oaks, were all listed in the legal documents. Additional documents obtained by the outlet showed that over the summer, he and Kyle Richards still have not paid off the lien from 2022 that is in their name for $6,500. At that time, The Franchise Tax Board in the State of California “issued a tax lien to the exes on June 25, 2024, for owing $6,542.50 in taxes for the year 2022.”

Since both Kyle and Mau were listed in the 2022 lien documents, the couple’s marital home in Encino was included in the filing. The duo purchased the seven-bedroom mansion in 2017 for a cool eight million dollars. Even though Mau moved out, Kyle still lives in the home. Shortly after the outlet’s first article, it was revealed that Kyle and Mau paid their lien on August 9, 2024. This came after a release for their tax lien was filed in the Los Angeles County Recorder’s Office. This was the same time that it was alleged that Mau took part in a PPP scam.

The Realtor LLC filed the lawsuit in July 2023. The suit alleged that The Agency applied for and received both a Payroll Protection Program (PPP) and CARES Act loan. They totaled $3,521,153. Realtor LLC accused Mau of fraudulently obtaining $3.5 million in PPP loans during the COVID-19 pandemic. The lawsuit claimed that Mau’s company “falsified their applications for the Payroll Protection Plan (PPP) and the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES) loans and that they received $3,521,153.” Mauricio has denied these claims and released a statement via his rep at the time. It read, “The claims in this case do not reflect the reality of our operations and financial situation at the time we filed for our PPP loans, and we intend to vigorously defend against these meritless claims.”

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is available to stream on Peacock.
