Max George has expressed his joy at being back home in his most recent health update, sharing festive family snaps on social media after his recovery from heart surgery.

The Wanted singer, 36, was taken to hospital earlier in the month. He later disclosed that he had to remain in the hospital due to heart issues and underwent a significant operation when his condition did not improve, keeping fans updated on his health journey.

However, in a Christmas miracle, he managed to return home following his hospital stay. Max was delighted being back with his family as he expressed his joy with fans online.

On Instagram, he posted snaps snuggling with his partner Maisie Smith and showcased a table beautifully set with holiday decorations, including Christmas crackers and gifts.

His post was simply captioned "it's so good to be home" alongside a love heart emoji. Speaking from his hospital bed on Christmas Eve, Max previously mentioned feeling "battered and bruised".

Yet, he also shared the good news of his impending discharge, saying: "It's time to go home. The numbers are way, way better. Feel knackered and have slept a lot today."

Despite being allowed to leave the hospital, Max indicated that he still has some medical tests ahead. He elaborated: "Few more tests to do over the next couple of weeks. Something to do with my lungs, but that's the least of my worries right now."

He added: "So yep, all good, bit battered and bruised and knackered." Max wrapped up his Instagram video with a reassuring thumbs-up to his followers.

Max, who gave up alcohol following past liver issues, experienced a concerning drop in his heart rate last week. He's now had a pacemaker fitted to regulate his heartbeat.

The former Celebrity MasterChef star discussed his health woes, emphasising his strict lifestyle choices including his avoidance of alcohol: "We have cancelled out a few things like alcohol for example. I have not had a drink for four and a half years, so it isn't that."

Going teetotal was a decision Max made after being alerted by a medical professional to his low liver count, which was a consequence of his partying ways on tour. His partner Maisie also shared her pride as Max faced surgery.

EastEnders star Maisie, 23, was seen visiting Max in the hospital, captured in an intimate photo of them hand-in-hand she shared online. The pair, who confirmed their relationship in 2022, are now living together.
