Meghan Markle couldn’t contain her excitement after Billie Eilish ‘came to the rescue’ following the devastating LA wildfires.
Almost 180,000 people were forced to evacuate their homes after the original blaze began in the Pacific Palisades neighbourhood, in what was described as the most destructive fire in the city’s history, with historic areas left in smoke and at least five fatalities.
The Duchess of Sussex has been visiting those that have been affected by the tragedy and recently took to Instagram sharing she reached out to a mother and daughter whose home was ‘left in ashes.’
Among the youngster’s possessions burned in the fire was a Billie Eilish T-shirt that had been left in the washing machine.
Meghan, 43, told her followers: ‘All that she’d been looking for in her home was the T-shirt from the Billie Eilish concert she’d just gone to.
‘I said, “Well, I don’t know, Billie Eilish but I’m going to figure out how to get you this shirt.”
The former royal explained that she reached out to everyone she knew to get the message directly to the Birds of a Feather sensation, 23.
Later in the clip, Meghan opens a package to reveal Billie had signed a box full of merch for the young fan.
‘You guys, I don’t even know what all this stuff means but it’s signed for her,” Meghan said as she showed off the unique merch designs.
Before she thanked the What Was I Made For hitmaker, she held up a blue lunchbox with a gold star drawn on the front and asked: ‘Is that a thing?’
‘Let’s keep supporting those affected by the California wildfires,’ the ex-Suits actress captioned the video.
‘Thanks to everyone who made this possible but most importantly, thank you to our first responders who are the community’s real heroes.’
Mel Gibson, Paris Hilton, and Billy Crystal were among the Hollywood A-listers whose homes were destroyed.
As the fires continued to intensify this time last month, Meghan delayed the launch of her new Netflix series With Love, Meghan.
The trailer showed the former actress meeting friends and cooking food at the home in Montecito which she shares with her husband Prince Harry.
In a statement, she said: ‘I’m thankful to my partners at Netflix for supporting me in delaying the launch, as we focus on the needs of those impacted by the wildfires in my home state of California.
A description of With Love on Netflix companion site Tudum said: ‘Produced by Meghan, With Love, Meghan blends practical how-to’s and candid conversation with friends, new and old.
‘Meghan shares personal tips and tricks, embracing playfulness over perfection, and highlights how easy it can be to create beauty, even in the unexpected.
‘She and her guests roll up their sleeves in the kitchen, the garden, and beyond, and invite you to do the same.’
