Meghan revealed she was devastated in a new Instagram post where she announced the death of her beloved pet dog Guy - and in an emotional montage, she featured never-before-seen photos and audio of her rarely-seen children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet

Meghan Markle announced 'devastating' news on with a heartbreaking video on her brand new Instagram account.

Taking to the newly-launched account, the Duchess of Sussex revealed that her beloved pet dog Guy that sadly died. In paying tribue to the beagle, who Meghan had rescued 10 years ago, she posted an emotional video made up of multiple never-before-seen pictures and videos of Guy with her, Prince Harry and their kids Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

In one adorable clip, Archie holds Guy on a leash as they enjoy a sunny walk. Another snap showed Meghan holding onto Lilibet, three, as the family's dogs napped around them on a picnic blanket.

While in another clip, in a first, Archie's voice can be heard saying: "He's going to fall" while he sat in the car with his mum and dog, before Meghan reassured him that the pup was safe. Then at the end of the video, the voices of Archie and this Lilibet can also be heard as they join Meghan in singing a heart melting song about Guy.

They can be heard singing: "We love you Guy! And we'll be true, when you're not near us, we're blue!" Although Meghan does not have comments enabled on her social media page, fans did take to X to shared their joy in hearing the children sing.

One wrote: "I just love seeing the little family moments in this video and the singing at the end", while another simply said: "That's adorable".

Harry and Meghan have fiercely protected their children's privacy. But last month, they gave a rare glimpse of the children on their official Christmas card. In a sweet snap that features on the Sussexes' official 2024 Christmas card, the two youngsters can be seen running into their parents' arms.

A source previously told PEOPLE: "Harry has been reluctant to show his children publicly, not out of a desire to hide them but to protect their privacy and safety from potential threats. He wants them to lead as normal a life as possible without the fear of kidnapping or harm."

Meanwhile, alongside the video, Meghan wrote about her dog's death: "I have cried too many tears to count. The type of tears that make you get in the shower with the absurd hope that the running water on your face will somehow make you not feel them, or pretend they’re not there. But they are. And that’s OK too."

The duchess said he had been at a shelter in Kentucky in 2015 and had been given just days to live when she adopted him from a rescue centre in Canada. Meghan said Guy was with her through everything, including filming Suits, getting engaged and married, and becoming a mother.

She also revealed that Guy survived a terrible accident shortly before she moved to the UK in 2017. He underwent operations over several months, she said, and was unable to leave the clinic.

"Doctors said he would never walk again, but Dr Noel Fitzpatrick said he could do it," the duchess said. "(Harry) and I would drive late at night, after hours, to see Guy as he recovered in Surrey for months on end." She added that Guy makes a key appearance in her new Netflix series With Love, Meghan and said she thinks viewers will fall in love with him too.

The eight-part series, which launches on January 15, sees Meghan inviting friends and famous guests to a California estate, where she shares cooking, gardening and hosting tips. "I hope you’ll come to understand why I am so devastated by his loss," she said.

Meghan also revealed that she chose Guy’s name after he was referred to as "the little guy" at the rescue centre because he was small and frail. The Sussexes have two other dogs – another rescue beagle called Mia and a black Labrador called Pula.
