Meghan Markle has kept a relatively low profile this fall while Prince Harry has been spotted all over the globe. That didn’t stop her from enjoying a rare night out in Los Angeles to celebrate the launch of Kadi Lee and Myka Harris’ Highbrow Hippie haircare line on Thursday, Nov. 14.
Looking as chic and elegant as ever, the Duchess of Sussex wore a strapless black jumpsuit and styled her hair in long, loose waves. The company’s Instagram Story captured flashes of Meghan singing and dancing to the gospel choir that performed at the opening — she looked free and happy as she grooved to their soulful music. (You can see the video here.) She was not only supporting Lee, her longtime colorist, but she was also there as an investor.

“Kadi has a mastery of hair health, and her Highbrow Hippie collection is a perfect reflection of that,” Markle told InStyle. “I am so proud to invest in her as a friend and as a female founder.” Lee has quite the celebrity following with Julia Roberts, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Kristin Davis as clients of her Venice, California salon. The Pretty Woman star was also the test head of hair for many of the new products.
“My hair gets put through a lot at work, and I am amazed it has held up over the years,” Roberts gushed. “We all can use a bit of hair health and support, and this is it for me. I feel like my hair has had a holiday [after] using these products.” With A-list endorsements from Roberts and the royal family member, the line is guaranteed to be a huge success!
Meghan has stepped boldly into the business world over the last few years, investing in brands like the plant-based latte company, Clevr Blends, which scored a retail deal with Target earlier this year. She also put money into the handwoven basket bags created by women in Rwanda, Cesta Collective, as a minority investor. The Duchess of Sussex knows how powerful her brand is when it comes to fashion.
“Times where I know there is a global spotlight, and attention will be given to each detail of what I may or may not be wearing, then I support designers that I have really great friendships with, and smaller, up-and-coming brands that haven’t gotten the attention that they should be getting,” she told The New York Times in August. “That’s one of the most powerful things that I’m able to do, and that’s simply wearing, like, an earring.”

The news isn’t surprising to Meghan’s fans and the business world is paying attention to the Duchess of Sussex’s investments. Her small backing often means big rewards for brands that would normally fall under the radar.
