Mel Gibson's home was destroyed by the wildfires that are raging in Los Angeles County. The actor revealed that the fires consumed his home while he was away in Austin, Texas, shooting an episode of the podcast "The Joe Rogan Experience."
“It’s emotional,” said Gibson to NewsNation. “I had my stuff there. I’ve been relieved from the burden of my stuff because it’s all in cinders.”
Gibson revealed he was "ill at ease" in Texas after reading the news and learning that his neighborhood was up in flames. “I thought, ‘Eh, I wonder if my place is still there,'” he said. “When I got home, sure enough, it wasn’t there.”
“(The area) was completely toasted. I’ve never seen such a complete burn." Gibson had owned the home for the past 15 years. He revealed that many of his neighbors were also affected, including fellow actor Ed Harris.
In the podcast with Rogan, Gibson criticized the Governor of California Gavin Newsom for his response to the fires. "I think all our tax dollars probably went for Gavin's hair gel," he said.
