Mia Khalifa's social media post about Margot Robbie and her filmmaking prowess has taken off online.
Barbie star Robbie helped to produce Amazon's recent film My Old Ass, which tells the story of an 18-year-old Elliot, played by Maisy Stella, who connects with her 39-year-old self, played by Aubrey Plaza, after taking hallucinogenic mushrooms on her birthday.
LuckyChap Entertainment, the production company set up by Robbie and her husband Tom Ackerley, produced the film. Despite a limited theatrical release that saw it only earning $5 million at the box office, My Old Ass has become a streaming hit since being released on Amazon Prime.
Now Lebanese American former adult film star Khalifa has taken to X, formerly Twitter, to praise Robbie's work producing the film, and her post has taken off.
Sharing a behind-the-scenes photo of Robbie on the set of My Old Ass, Khalifa wrote: "This was in my top 5 films this year, Margot Robbie being a producer on it makes perfect sense now."
Newsweek reached out to Khalifa via email on Monday for comment.
At the time of writing, Khalifa's post had had 304,700 views.
And it seems Khalifa's fans seemed to agree with her.
"Margot is a dominant force in current Hollywood. She can do seemingly anything," replied one of Khalifa's followers.
"Margot is such a great producer on top of being a great actress," said another, while other fans praised the movie as a "great" film.
What Was Margot Robbie's Role on My Old Ass?
Megan Park, who wrote and directed My Old Ass, first came to the attention of Robbie and her production company following the 2021 release of Park's debut film The Fallout, which starred Jenna Ortega.
LuckyChap Entertainment then reached out to Park to see what other ideas she had. The result was Robbie's firm coproducing My Old Ass.
"They [LuckyChap] were very instrumental in encouraging me to go with it," Park told ABC News. "They're just really even-keeled, good people, which makes them great producers. They treat everybody the same, which is the vibe that I like. There's no ego, there's no hierarchy."
In an interview with Cinema Blend, Park also spoke about Robbie's role on set of My Old Ass and the future of their professional partnership.
"I mean, her whole company, LuckyChap, they're just so amazing to work with. So it's like, no wonder they get so much repeat business from their directors. They really are the dream producers," Park said.
"Margot was up in Muskoka [in Canada] with us, and she's the perfect mix of being somebody who's … she's obviously like an actor and really understands kind of how to work with them and how to support the directors, and was really helpful with the script as well. And, she was just like a blast … She's like the dream producer. I'm working with her on my next movie and also a TV show. I feel like that says everything," Park added.
