The White Lotus Survivor

Have you noticed how many Survivor contestants have competed on The White Lotus? Well, it’s not an accident!

The creator of Max’s Emmy-winning show, Mike White, was on two seasons of The Amazing Race and Survivor: David vs. Goliath!

Clocked:

Mike Hill, the writer and director of The White Lotus was a contestant on season 37 of Survivor.

Kate Riccio, the creator behind Instagram’s @RiccioRecaps schooled me on how reality tv influenced Mike Hill’s art.

“He has cast his fellow tribe mates on every season of White Lotus,” began the content creator.

“In season one, we see Alec Merlino play an employee of the hotel” named Hutch, one of Armond’s lackeys.

“In season two of White Lotus, we see Angelina Keeley and Kara Kay hanging on the beach.”

As for season three, “We see Natalie Cole as one of the restaurant patrons. But, it also looks like she is sitting with Carl, who was also on Survivor: David and Goliath.”

“Now, aside from Carl, every single Survivor cast member that Mike has put on White Lotus was a part of his original tribe, the Goliath tribe. Except, for Carl, who was a David.”

Also, for you School of Rockers, Mike White played ‘Ned Schneebly’ in the movie!

Here’s another connection between The White Lotus and reality tv:

Season 3 of HBO’s hit show used Bravo’s Southern Charm to inspire the Ratliff family. In case you’re not caught up …

The Ratliffs are an affluent family from North Carolina. So much so, the family travels to Thailand so their daughter can interview a monk for her school paper.

The Ravenels, excuse me, Ratliffs should remind you of Southern Charm considering that’s exactly who the family was modeled after.

Sam Nivola, who plays the youngest Ratliff brother, was told by the Show’s creator to watch the beloved Bravo series to model his character, Lochlan. “In fact,” he added, “Jason Isaacs, who played our dad, kind of modeled his whole accent and character off of [that cast].”

Former Southern Charm star, Cameran Wimberly, entered the chat. “Many of y’all are echoing what I thought as soon as I heard the dad speak. ‘Damn, he sounds like Thomas Ravenel!’”

“That dialect is NOT North Carolina. It’s old Charleston.”
