Love Island's Mitch Taylor teased the return of reality icon Joey Essex ahead of the upcoming series of All Stars.

The reality star, who rose to fame in the 2023 series of the show, didn't hold back as he admitted he would be 'disappointed with the production team' if they brought Joey into the All Stars series. Joey, who has been a reality star for over a decade, shocked fans when he appeared in the 2024 series of Love Island.

Joey, best known for his appearance on The Only Way Is Essex, lasted until day 55 before he was dumped with Jessy Potts. Many fans were upset over his participation in the show as he was already famous, with many rushing to social media to claim the show was a 'fix'.

Ahead of the All Stars version of the ITV2 programme, The Mirror chatted to Mitch and asked him how he felt about celebrities entering the show. He said: "I’ll be talking crap about Joey Essex if he goes in. I’ll be disappointed with the production team if they put him in.

"As much as Joey is a great character, and plays his character well – he’s fantastic TV – but Love Island, isn’t about celebrities. When he first went on, I was like fair enough, but I felt bad for the other contestants because it was very much the Joey show. I think it’ll kill the show if Joey goes back into Love Island. Honestly, I think it would kill the show, because it’s the general public who are being made famous and Joey Essex is already a celebrity.

"So I don’t know why they’d do it. It’s like sticking Ronaldo in Port Vale’s team or something. It would be just be made all about him." Mitch said he 'heard rumours' about his possible return and added that he'd 'probably put my savings on it and bet that he does go back in. He added: "And he is a hard worker, so he’ll last the five weeks. But I don’t think he’ll win, because he doesn’t want a girlfriend out of it."

However, Mitch said he would have 'fan-boyed' over him if Joey appeared on his series. The star explained in our chat, in partnership with Casino.org: "Yeah I would have brown nosed him. If he came in All Stars with me, I would have been his mate because he plays the show exactly how I do, there to cause a mess. And if he came on my original series, I’d have been good because I’d be happy there was a celebrity in there.

"But as a viewer on the outside, I don’t want to see him on Love Island – because that’s not the show for him. He should stick to Celebrity Big Brother."
