MLB Insider Pours Cold Water On Yankees' Dreams Of Acquiring $14 Million Infielder

1 day ago 3

The New York Yankees are desperately looking to add an infielder to completely their starting lineup. They've been connected to a lot of different stars, including Nolan Arenado and Alex Bregman, but after a few weeks, it doesn't seem like either of these two stars is headed to the Bronx.

New York recently reportedly turned its attention to a pair of infielders, Luis Arráez and Gavin Lux. But Lux was traded to the Cincinnati Reds before the Yankees could even get their chance at him.

The Los Angeles Dodgers received an outfield prospect and a competitive balance pick in return.

Arráez is still available, though. But just because he's available doesn't mean he would be a good fit for the Yankees. In fact, Jon Heyman of the New York Post recently reported he was hearing the Yankees don't believe Arráez would be a good fit for them at all.

Arráez is a multi-time batting champion, but he doesn't provide much else. The lefty doesn't slug and he doesn't get on base at an elite rate. His defense is average at best, but he's such a positive hitter that he's an above-average player.

With all the negative traits, the Yankees likely don't see him as a fit for their 2025 lineup. The Bronx Bombers will need to direct their attention away from Arráez and Lux and place it on a player that fits their 2025 vision.
