Los Angeles Dodgers first base coach Clayton McCullough is about to get his first national air time in a World Series.
It could be a mere warmup act for the next step in McCullough's career.

According to reports out of Chicago and Miami, the 44-year-old coach is a candidate for the manager's jobs with the Chicago White Sox and Miami Marlins.
Isaac Azout of Fish on First reported Wednesday that McCullough is going to be interviewed by the Marlins for the job previously held by Skip Schumaker. Schumaker stepped down in September as the Marlins wrapped up a 62-100 season.
McCullough has a connection to Marlins assistant general manager Gabe Kapler from their time together in the Dodgers' player development department. In 2021, McCullough took over as the major league first base coach for George Lombard in Los Angeles.
In 2019, McCullough was the Dodgers' field coordinator when he was reported to be among the candidates for the San Francisco Giants manager's job — a job that ultimately went to Kapler.
Coincidentally Lombard, now the Detroit Tigers' bench coach, is also on a short list of reported candidates for the Marlins' job, according to Azout. San Francisco Giants coach Alyssa Nakken is also reportedly on the Marlins' radar.

Cleveland Guardians bench coach Craig Albernaz and former Marlins bench coach Luis Urueta have also been mentioned as candidates under consideration as Miami's next manager.
If the Marlins are interested in McCullough, that makes him a candidate for both vacant managerial jobs.

Bruce Levine of 670-AM in Chicago recently reported that McCullough is a "leading candidate" to become the White Sox's next manager. Grady Sizemore replaced Pedro Grifol on an interim basis when Grifol was fired in August.
Lombard has also been reported as a candidate for the White Sox job, too. According to Josh Nelson and James Fegan of Sox Machine, Schumaker and Padres executive A.J. Ellis are on that list as well.
