No, those aren't Dwayne Johnson's actual pecs.
The actor and WWE wrestler, who was spotted on the set of Moana's live-action remake sporting huge muscles and fresh tattoos, admits he had some help from the wardrobe department.
"That's a suit that took a long time to put on," Johnson tells Extra. "So, I'm so happy you said, 'You bulked up,' because when you say, 'You bulked up,' that means you couldn't tell."
Johnson plays demigod Maui in Disney's upcoming Moana, but despite an already shredded physique, he still needed an extensive bodysuit to get him up to mythical proportions. "That is a couple of hours every day of transforming, putting that on," Johnson added.
The photos that surfaced of Johnson on set were not officially released. In fact, he and the film crew went to great lengths trying to curb leaks, including putting up walls to block sightlines. But the star reveals paparazzi found a way around it.
"We shot outside and when those pictures surfaced, I was like, 'S***, we got caught,' because we were putting up walls so there was no paparazzi. But they got into boats and started shooting pictures."
The live-action Moana remake is scheduled for release in summer 2026. It sees Johnson reprise his role as Maui from the 2016 animated film, with Catherine Laga'aia taking on the title role.
Set in ancient Polynesia, Moana follows the daughter of a coastal village chief who sets sail in search of a legendary demigod to save her people. An animated sequel, Moana 2, released in cinemas 29 November 2024.
