Model remembered for 'weave from hell' makes major TV comeback

Molly O’Connell is no stranger to cameras. She starred on America’s Next Top Model, where she wore a “weave from hell,” but is now bringing flirty drama to Southern Charm season 10.

Based in Charleston, there’s only one thing Molly O’Connell had left to tick off: Southern Charm. She’s described as “weird but in a good way” by her co-stars, and used to flirtily text Craig Conover.

Molly O’Connell starred on ANTM

Molly O’Connell first rose to fame on America’s Next Top Model season 16, in 2010. She ended as a runner-up, but her negative attitude left judges unsure as to whether she’d do well in the industry.

She was known for producing beautiful pictures that stunned and captivated the judges. O’Connell also achieved four first call-outs, two second call-outs and won one challenge.

The model was in the bottom two twice, the first for her hair issues, and the second time with Jaclyn for her bad attitude. She was spared both times and eventually made it to the final two.

In the final two, Molly’s portfolio was deemed to be strong, but she lost out to Brittani Kline, due to the winner’s outstanding runway walk, Covergirl commercial and equally impressive portfolio.

She used to text Craig Conover

Molly claims she used to flirtily text Craig, but adds that she “isn’t trying to steal him from Paige [Desorbo]”. She plays the trumpet, is described as “weird but in a good way,” and lives in Charleston.

She’s been friends with the cast for a long time and has even popped up in the background of prior seasons. “I’ll most likely be drunk in the background pretending to play the harp,” she wrote in 2019.

Molly has now returned home to be closer to her family and friends, and her long-time entanglements with the men of the group lead her to wonder exactly how she fits in.

Southern Charm star leaves weave

Molly is remembered for a “weave from hell” she wore on ANTM. Fans will “never forget” the weave she wore a long time ago, which she refers to as an “evil noodle weave 😂😂”.

She blamed Tyra Banks for giving her the “worst weave ever”. The long, thick, blonde weave, given to her on makeover day, caused the runner-up great problems during the cycle.

Her first problem was when the weavologist sewed the weave on incorrectly, so it was only half on her head, but Tyra had it re-done for her to Molly’s relief. However, the new weave caused scalp problems.

The issues only led to Molly’s angry attitude, and appeared in the bottom two twice, the first time with Dalya for letting her hair problems affect her jaguar photoshoot. Eventually, Tyra took out the weave.
