A mom from Texas woke up to some unexpected footage after dozing off with her 21-month-old daughter.
Waking up two hours earlier than usual, Melissa Zaborowski, 28, was able to lie down next to her daughter in her floor bed, hoping to coax her back to sleep.
"I nursed her for a bit and ended up dozing off. I thought she had too. Clearly, I was wrong," she told Newsweek.
Instead, her toddler decides to get the day going without help and rolls out of bed. In the TikTok clip, the toddler starts playing with her toys, pushing a little stroller and then filling the bed with toys.
"She was still in her sleep sack, so she was shuffling around, unable to have full range of her legs," Zaborowski said.
Eventually, the mother woke up surrounded by a pile of toys. Because she'd been asleep for only around 30 minutes, she looks visibly dazed by the whole thing.
"I think as moms we're never fully asleep when we're in our children's environment, so I could sense stuff around me. What woke me up was her touching my leg," she explained.
As she tries to make sense of the scene, her daughter tosses a shoe at her mom's face. In her TikTok caption under the handle @melissarzabo, Zaborowski wrote: I probably deserved to get hit tbh.
The clip has received over 212,000 views and over 18,000 likes from other TikTok users. Hundreds saved and commented on the clip, many of whom found Zaborowski's toddler's independence hilarious.
"She's like, 'It's hard raising parents,'" one user joked.
"She knew mommy needed to sleep but she had work to do," another commented.
Upon waking, Zaborowski had a flood of thoughts, from confusion to mild panic about what her daughter might have gotten into during her solo playtime.
"I realized what had happened and I fell asleep. A million thoughts ran through my mind on what could have happened. I am glad we baby-proofed her room," she told Newsweek.
Another user called the little girl a "queen" for moving about the room while still encased in her sleep sack.
Luckily, the little one didn't get into any harm. Zaborowski said she got out of bed and started their morning together.
