Rock band My Chemical Romance has released an emotional statement after the death of their drummer last week.

Bob Bryar, who was the drummer for the hit band between 2004 to 2014, was found dead in his Tennessee home on Wednesday, just a day before Thanksgiving. His cause of death is yet to be confirmed. However, officials have confirmed Bryar's death is not being treated as suspicious as all of his weapons and music equipment at his home were left untouched.

Now, his former bandmates have spoken out about the tragedy, as they requested "patience and understanding" from the public.

In a statement shared with Rolling Stone magazine, My Chemical Romance said: "The band asks for your patience and understanding as they process the news of Bob's passing."

The last sighting of Bryar alive was earlier this month on November 4. Following confirmation of his death, TMZ reported that Animal Control visited Bob's residence to remove two dogs after his badly decomposed body was discovered. A medical examiner is currently investigating the cause and circumstances of the rock star's death.

Bryar officially replaced MCR's original drummer Matt Pelissier shortly after the release of their 2004 album Cheers For Sweet Revenge. He played the drums on their huge 2006 album The Black Parade and also played a part in their songwriting efforts for their 2010 record Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys.

Prior to the release of Danger Days, Bob left MCR to work with other bands and later announced his departure from the music industry to pursue a career in real estate.

Ahead of his tragic death, Bryar had paid tribute to late Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington - who died by suicide in July 2017 at the age of 41. Linkin Park disbanded following the death of the lead singer. However, earlier this year they reformed with vocalist Emily Armstrong joining the band as a lead singer. The group have since released a chart-topping new album and are due to tour the world in 2025.

Taking to social media a day after he was last seen in public, Bryar shared a touching post about Emily, congratulating her on her work with the rock band. On Twitter/X, he wrote: "Emily armstrong is destroying, shredding faces and making Chester proud. she was the perfect choice. AND she had to deal with the initial hate. that s**t is hard. trust me. word up.”
