Deciding against a more traditional gift this Christmas, Myleene Klass gave her partner a ring… but not just any ring.
Instead, it contained her own breast milk.
The former Hear’Say singer, 46, had two gold rings specially made, one for her and one for her partner, Simon Motson, to whom she got engaged in September 2020.
Myleene’s accessories contained milk she had stored in the freezer, admitting that she ‘couldn’t bear to part with it.’
Taking to Instagram amid the festive period, the media personality said she ‘adores’ her ‘ring with a difference’.
Myleene explained: ‘For Xmas, I got matching rings commissioned with Onyx black colouring added.
‘The actual process of making the rings is fascinating. I wish it had been available for when I had my daughters.’
She added: ‘They call breast milk liquid gold. Well, to me, it’s more precious than diamonds. Especially as it has the cells of ALL seven of my babies.’
Myleene also added the hashtag #RainbowBaby, having spoken openly about her experiences with pregnancy loss in a bid to raise awareness.
Shortly after she and Simon began trying for a baby, she suffered her first miscarriage 10 weeks into pregnancy while working.
Myleene then had a second missed miscarriage and another miscarriage while at work.
The radio presenter is also a proud mum to teenage daughters Ava and Hero, whom she shares with ex-husband Graham Quinn.
In 2019, she gave birth to her first child with Simon, named Apollo.
Despite the unconventional nature of her Christmas pressie for Simon, he was visibly thrilled with it, as Myleene’s video captured him beaming after opening it.
In the comments, fans also expressed their support.
‘I thought I was the only strange person who found it hard to part with old breastmilk that I had frozen! Love this I can totally relate 🤍’, wrote oh.its.alishamay.
‘Breastfeeding is one of the hardest but most rewarding things I’ve ever done. This is amazing ❤️’, added fellow mum alexfletch33.
‘My daughter and I won’t throw the last bag of breastmilk for my grandson, I’m going to tell her to do this with it x’, commented stacemumof8.
The I’m A Celebrity star has long campaigned for the law around miscarriages to be changed.
She’s also been brave in discussing her own story, having released a documentary titled Miscarriage & Me.
In the film, Myleene admitted that she felt like she had ‘failed’ her partner after suffering the pregnancy losses together.
Simon said that he never blamed Myleene, only feeling a ‘huge loss’.
Last year, Myleene helped to make history after calling for a change in procedures, which previously meant a woman had to suffer up to three miscarriages before receiving help.
She also broke down in tears on Loose Women following the launch of baby loss certificates.
Now, parents who have lost a baby before 24 weeks can request a certificate to have their loss recognised.
