'Narcissist' ABC News Anchor Called Out After Viewers Notice Him Pinning Jacket To Show Off Muscles During Onsite Coverage Of LA Wildfires

7 hours ago 10

Los Angeles is at the mercy of multiple devastating wildfires being spread rapidly by the Santa Ana winds. The destruction is shocking, and it’s been absolutely heartbreaking to see so many people lose everything. It’s a heartbreaking thing to see from any distance, but up close the loss is staggering.

Unless you’re ABC News anchor David Muir. He seemingly was more interested in how he looked on camera.

In a video going viral on X (Twitter), the anchorman can be seen turning to the side in a short clip which reveals he has — get this — clothespins on the back of the firefighter jacket they gave him to wear. Why? Apparently to make it fit tighter. So you could see his muscles. Because that’s what’s really important. Ugh.

Jack Osbourne was the first to shine a spotlight on Muir’s tacky tactic, captioning video he captured of the moment:

“Nice Jacket Bro. Glad you look nice and svelte with those clothes line pegs, while our city burns to the ground.”

Ouch!

Social media was set off after seeing this video, with many users calling out the 51-year-old for being a “narcissist”:

“Wow! He’s like, does this jacket make me look fat? Get me some clothes line pegs, stat!”

“What a narcissist”

“He’s a fraud from head to toe”

“This is PATHETIC!”

“Shows you what he is all about and his priorities … he is no doubt the guy in the gym who can’t stop staring at himself in the mirror … smh”

“What an ABSOLUTE trout shouldered clown”

“David Muir is a national embarrassment”

Some users came to his defense, however:

“how is this hurting anyone else i don’t understand”

“tbh I would do this too”

“Baddies don’t take days off!”

“Ok? And if I was on the national news I’d do the same thing”

“or because it’s super windy and he didn’t want that giant ass outfit to be flapping in the wind and ruining the audio coming from the mic clipped to his collar”

“80-100mph winds + a loose jacket of this material = a nightmare for clear audio in the tv industry. common sense !”

“When we do our hunting shows we have to watch the clothing, the mic picks up the rubbing of material.”

Innerestingly ABC didn’t include that moment in the “full broadcast” they later put up on YouTube. So maybe they caught wind of the controversy? Or the fact he isn’t doing it at other parts of the video is proof the folks saying it was about protecting the jacket from the wind were right?
