NASCAR Confirms 2025 Clash Format as Iconic Bowman Gray Stadium Returns

4 hours ago 2

NASCAR has officially announced the schedule for the 2025 Cook Out Clash which sees the return of the iconic Bowman Gray Stadium.

Set for Sunday, February 2, 2025, this event will bring back the thrill of NASCAR to a venue that is deeply rooted in the sport's history.

Bowman Gray Stadium, located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, is a quarter-mile oval that has been iconic in stock car racing.

Its rich history dates back to its first NASCAR race in 1958, making it a legendary site for the sport. After NASCAR's last visit in 1971—where Bobby Allison took the victory—the stadium is resurging with significant upgrades facilitated by a $530,020 grant from North Carolina's Motorsports Relief Fund.

The action-packed weekend kicks off on February 1 with practice sessions broadcasted on Fox Sports 1, which will be divided into three driver groups, each participating in three practice runs.

The outcome of the final practice session will play a vital role as it determines the starting lineups for the four 25-lap heat races. Only laps under green-flag conditions will contribute to these heats, and there will be no overtime extensions. Drivers finishing in the top five of each heat will earn a place in the main event set for Sunday evening.

For those who don't secure a direct place from the heats, there remains an opportunity via the 75-lap Last Chance Qualifier slated for Sunday afternoon.

Two top finishers from the LCQ will advance, securing the 21st and 22nd spots in the feature race. Meanwhile, the 23rd starting spot is reserved for the highest-ranked driver from the 2024 standings who has not yet qualified.

The 200-lap feature race will commence with the winners of the heat races setting the tone; Heat 1's victor will claim the pole position, with subsequent heat winners following suit in the lineup. A midpoint break is slated for Lap 100, allowing driver and team adjustments while only laps under green-flag conditions will be counted.
