Freedom Racing Enterprises, owned by Spencer Boyd, has announced a huge expansion for the upcoming 2025 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
The team has confirmed an additional part-time entry. The No. 67 truck will participate in selected races during the 2025 season, with a specific three-race assignment already set for driver Ryan Roulette.
Roulette will be sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
FRE, founded by Spencer Boyd and co-owner Chris Miller in early 2024, has roots in Mooresville, North Carolina, and uses Chevrolet Silverados. The team is managed by Jeff Hammond, a respected figure in NASCAR with extensive experience both on and off the track.
With an expansion like this, partly fueled by assets from GMS Racing after their closure, FRE aims not only to grow but also to maintain a strong competitive edge in the series.
Spencer Boyd, who drives full-time in the No. 76 truck for FRE, opened up on the expansion, explaining in a press release from the team:
"This is a great next step for our team.
"We wanted to expand with the right partners and in a manner that we can manage well. I want to be the truck team that screams patriotism, so with the addition of Ryan Roulette, a B-52 pilot for our military, I could think of no better place to start the No. 67 program.
"He has some great experience in ARCA and am delighted he has chosen FRE for the next step in his career."
Roulette has been building his career since his debut in the ARCA Menards Series West in 2021. Over the years, he's shown skill across various racing formats, from dirt to asphalt tracks.
His drive and military background as a B-52 pilot caught the attention of FRE, aligning with their patriotic theme. Excited to join the team, Roulette noted:
"I'm looking forward to getting in a truck and representing VFW in the (NASCAR Craftsman Truck) Series for the first time since they were on the hood with Ron Hornaday Jr.
"FRE has built a reputation of being a hard-working organization and Spencer is a fair businessman who knows what it's like being in my position, so I naturally gravitated to all of those attributes when I was looking for the right team to partner with.
"They showed great improvement in their first year of operation and I look forward to helping build a strong program with the No. 67."
The history of the No. 67 truck dates back to 1998, with a total of 31 appearances in the series to date.
David Ragan made a prominent mark with ten starts, the most by any driver with this truck. Jeffrey Earnhardt most recently piloted the No. 67 in 2024. Spencer Boyd's strategic planning hopes to bring fresh energy to this entry, mixing history with a fresh vision for FRE.
