Nathan Carter had admitted he has been in love before, but things didn't work out for him.

The country music star had always put his career and touring before his relationships, which has made things difficult.

He said his stage persona is very different to what he is really like in real life.

Asked if he he ever been in love, Nathan said: “Yeah, probably a couple of times but they didn’t work out.

“The problem would be that my gigging thing always has to come first.

“So it’s pretty tough to maintain a solid relationship, to be able to give back as much as the other person has given.”

Nathan likes to keep his dating life and relationships away from the public eye - and his stage persona is very different to what he is actually like at home.

He told People & Culture: “I’ve had relationships through the years but I generally just don’t talk about it and keep my private life out of the public view.

"I know when I go on stage I have a particular persona, very vibrant and bubbly and all that craic. But when I go home, I’m exactly the same as everyone else.

"I just want to close the door and watch Netflix.”

He said: “I was never considered stylish at all. The stuff I used to wear on stage was horrendous – silver suits and tuxedos. I’d be looking at the American country singers, all in ripped jeans, T-shirts and thinking, why can’t I do that?

"But it wasn’t allowed in the country genre in Ireland.

"It came from the showband era and then spread down to country music singers.”
