NBA star Anthony Edwards is making a major push into unscripted TV, with his production venture Three-Fifths Media inking a deal with Brent Montgomery‘s Wheelhouse.
Edwards, a star player for the Minnesota Timberwolves, is currently starring in the Netflix docuseries Starting 5. He launched Three-Fifths Media in 2019 with his partner and business manager Justin Holland.
“I love the business we’re building and the content we’re creating, and this partnership with Wheelhouse will help us take a big step forward that we’re really excited about,” Edwards said in a statement.
“We couldn’t ask for a better partner than Wheelhouse,” Holland added. “They are a true teammate and, together, Three-Fifths and Wheelhouse share a vision for the type of content we want to create, and with their support we’re going to be able to deliver incredible projects that are true to Anthony and his interests.”
Wheelhouse is also using the deal to kickstart a Wheelhouse Sports label, which it will grow to fill a growing demand for sports-adjacent content from streaming services and TV channels. Wheelhouse already produces The King of Collectibles for Netflix, which touches on the world of sports, among other programming.
“We love that in working with Anthony, Justin and Three-Fifths, this partnership can leverage creative driven by Anthony’s electric personality and ambition,” Montgomery said. “It’s a great recipe for breakthrough content.”
Wheelhouse raised funding earlier this year from Alignment Growth, the firm founded by former Time Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes and former Warner Bros. Entertainment chief Kevin Tsujihara.
