Rapper Nelly is in quite the dilemma with some of his fans.
Nelly is reportedly slated to perform at one of three official inaugural events for Donald Trump, according to CBS News. He’ll be at Trump’s Liberty Ball, scheduled for Monday.
On Wednesday, former Clinton White House aide Keith Boykin appeared on CNN, asserting that any rapper who takes the stage at a Trump-related event is a “dishonor” to the Black community.
He went on to list Trump’s history of racist comments and behavior, such as his perpetuation of the “birther” myth about former President Barack Obama and Trump’s campaign against the Central Park Five (now known as the Exonerated Five) — what Boykin described as Trump leading a “lynch mob against five Black and brown kids in the 1980s.”
“This is not someone Black people should be associating with or normalize,” he said.

Nelly isn’t the only rapper to perform in front of pro-Trump crowds ahead of the inauguration. Snoop Dogg recently performed at Trump’s Crypto Ball in Washington, D.C., hosted by David Sacks, Trump’s crypto czar pick.
