Netflix will be raising the price of their subscription.

The streaming giant saw a whopping 19 million subscribers join the platform during the final months of 2024, helped greatly by Squid Game's second season and the Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson fight.

Netflix has confirmed that they will be increasing subscriptions in the US, Canada, Argentina and Portugal. When asked whether UK subscriptions will be hiked up, Netflix said there is "nothing to share right now".

In the US, most plans will be increased - the cheapest subscription with no adverts was $15.49, set to be bumped up to $17.99. A membership with adverts will rise to $7.99.

Back in October 2023, Netflix raised prices for some of the UK plans and released a statement explaining the move.

They said: "We will occasionally ask our members to pay a little more so that we can re-invest to further improve Netflix." The streamer has revealed a total of 300 million subscribers at the end of 2024 - it was expected that 9.6 million new subs would join between October and December, a number that was smashed out of the park thanks to Squid Game and the fight.

As well as these two, Netflix also streamed two NFL games on Christmas Day and is set to show even more live events in the future. These include WWE wrestling and the FIFA Women's World Cup 2027 and 2031, which they recently bought the rights to.
