Netflix recently announced Moments – a simple way to create and share links to your favorite moments from movies and web series. But certain features are missing from Moments and things that would be nice to have but aren’t available yet. Here’s how Netflix Moments works, how to use it to save, find, and share favorite scenes, and what Netflix still doesn’t allow.
What Is Netflix Moments
Netflix Moments is a new feature that allows you to create shareable links to your favorite scenes from movies and shows. You can then share that link with anyone on social media or using messaging apps. Simply click on the link to view that moment and then you can create and save it yourself or forward it.
Some things to keep in mind:
- The feature is only available on mobile.
- You need to be a Netflix subscriber to share and view shared Moments.
- Moment is just a link to a particular moment in the movie or episode. You still can’t take screenshots or screen record because of DRM protection.
- For now, it has been rolled out on iPhones only but expect it to be available on Android in the coming weeks. There is no word on desktop and web apps or smart TVs.
How to Create and Share Moments on Netflix
It is easy to save favorite scenes as Netflix Moments but there is no way to find them except from the watch screen. Let’s take a look:
- Open Netflix and stream the scene you want to save and share as a Moment.
- Tap screen once to bring up on-screen settings. Tap Moments in the bottom-left corner of the screen.
- Tap Save below the scene to save the Moment.
- Once a moment is saved, you will see the Share icon below it. Tap on it to share the link to the Netflix Moment with your friends.

Our Experience With Netflix Moments
We used Netflix Moments and have mixed feelings about it. We are happy that there is now a way to share favorite scenes and moments from Netflix. However, there is no easy way to access these moments once they are saved. To access saved Netflix Moments, you must begin streaming, tap on Moments, and then access saved moments. You will find the delete button right next to the share button which is the only way to delete links to saved Netflix Moments.
There is no menu or folder where all moments can be accessed and filtered conveniently. Talking about folders, we would love to save Netflix moments in different folders based on genre, cast, crew, or franchise. Again, so far, there is no way to do that.
The feature is available on smartphones only but we would love to see it on the desktop and web app too. After all, many users like streaming content on a bigger screen.
