Pennsylvania State Police released new photos of Luigi Mangione at the Altoona McDonald's where he was taken into custody on Monday.

In the photos shared by the PD's social media Tuesday, Mangione, 26, removes his blue face mask to eat a hashbrown as he leans against the restaurant wall. The suspect in the shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was wearing a mustard-colored beanie and dark jacket when sighted.

"Law enforcement continues to seek the public's help in gathering information on Luigi Mangione's travel and recent whereabouts in Pennsylvania," the department wrote alongside the photos. "We ask anyone with information to call 1-800-4PA-TIPS or submit a tip online."

A McDonald's customer recognized Mangione from the widespread media coverage of Thompson's killing and told an employee at the restaurant, who then called police.

NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch confirmed Mangione was found in possession of a ghost a gun and a fake New Jersey ID, matching the one used to check into a New York City hostel before the shooting.

Mangione was initially arrested on possession of an unlicensed firearm and other charges, but after a court appearance on Monday is now facing second-degree murder charges in Thompson's death.

Mangione is being held at the Blair County Prison in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania. Mangione will have an extradition proceeding on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Blair County Courthouse.

A handwritten 262-word manifesto by Mangione released by police offered insights into his possible motives.

The document begins with Mangione accepting responsibility for his alleged crime and distancing himself from any accomplices. He criticizes the rising profits of corporations like UnitedHealthcare, contrasting their financial success with stagnant American life expectancy.

Mangione accuses these companies of exploiting the country for profit and blames the public for enabling such behavior. The manifesto explicitly states: "To save you a lengthy investigation, I state plainly that I wasn't working with anyone."

The motive for Mangione's alleged fatal shooting of Thompson may also be tied to the words "deny," "defend," and "depose," which were written on the bullets used in the attack.

Details about Mangione's background reveal he attended a private prep school in Baltimore and later studied at the University of Pennsylvania, according to his LinkedIn account and spokespeople for both schools.

R.J. Martin, a close friend of Mangione who had lived with him in Honolulu, told The New York Times that Mangione underwent spinal surgery in 2023.

However, when Martin asked how the surgery had gone, he said Mangione simply responded with "long story" and offered no further details.
