Former University of Alabama head coach Nick Saban has weighed in on Miami Dolphins starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa's decision to continue to play. He was on the Pat McAfee Show and gave his thoughts on the matter.
"You know, I'm concerned because I want Tua to be safe and healthy and not have a football career that's gonna impact him down the road. Because I think organizationally, this is a medical decision and not an organizational decision. People will look at him and say, why are they letting him play? I think the doctors make that decision so it's a medical decision. For him, it becomes personal then..."
Tagovailoa will return this week against the Arizona Cardinals for the first time since he suffered a concussion in Week 2 of the season. He has seen multiple concussions during his career and it has resulted in some discussion about him returning.

However, he and his doctors came to the conclusion that he didn't need to retire and could return to play. He has been working his way back to the field and the Dolphins are very excited about his return.
Saban coached Tagovailoa while he played at the University of Alabama so he knows him well. They won a National Championship together and it helped him get drafted at No. 5 overall by the Dolphins in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Getting their starter back for this game against the Cardinals is massive for the Dolphins. Their offense has been very poor since he went down so he should give them a big boost.
Star wide receiver Tyreek Hill weighed in on getting his starting quarterback back onto the field. He seems fairly confident that the offense would continue where things left off before the injury.
"When Tua is a part of this offense, can't nobody stop us, bro," Tyreek Hill said Wednesday, just minutes after exclaiming that he and Tagovailoa connected on a deep ball in practice. "We should score every day. That's the way I look at it. We've got too much talent."
It may take Tagovailoa some time to fully get back into the swing of things but the Dolphins have full belief in him. If he can get this offense going, it could lead the Dolphins to turn their season around.
