Over 20 years after fans were left scratching their heads, Nicole Kidman has finally revealed what was behind the viral picture of her seemingly celebrating her divorce from Tom Cruise.
Turns out that the celebrations had nothing to do with the divorce, with Kidman opening up on the matter while speaking to British GP for her Men of the Year cover story.
"That's not true," Kidman said about the prevailing story that she was walking outside with her arms raised in relief at the divorce.
"That was not me," she said, before adding, "That was from a film. That wasn't real life. I know that image!"
While Kidman may know which film she wore the patterned top, green capris and sneakers, she didn't state which movie she was referring to.
The meme was once again pushed into the spotlight when Jenna Dewan posted it in her Instagram stories after she and Channing Tatum settled their divorce.
Kidman and Cruise's marriage
Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise tied the knot in 1990. They adopted daughter Isabella, 31, and son Connor, 29, before separating in 2001.
Cruise went on to marry Katie Holmes in 2006, with the couple divorcing in 2012.
As for Kidman, she began dating Keith Urban in 2005, and they later tied the knot a year later. They are parents to daughters Sunday, 16, and Faith, 13.
While Kidman is more than happy with how things have turned out, she opened up about how she thinks about her mortality.
"Mortality. Connection. Life coming and hitting you. And loss of parents and raising children and marriage and all of the things that go into making you a fully sentient human," she said. "Life is, whew."
