With grout being made from a porous material, it's particularly susceptible to soaking up liquids and stains leading to mould, whether it’s from shampoo or soap residue.

Regular cleaning is the easiest way to help maintain grout’s pristine appearance for an extended time.

On the popular Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips and Tricks Facebook group, one savvy cleaner shared her nifty 20-minute grout cleaning method that brings good results using a value-for-money cleaning spray.

Linda Scott posted: “Before and after using this amazing stuff on grout! Absolutely amazing results!”

Elaborating on her discovery, she added: “I have never found anything to clean the grout as quickly and nothing works better than this stuff.”

She shared the ease of the process: “Doesn’t even need scrubbing, left for 20 minutes and then went around the grout wiping and it legit wiped the mould and dirt clean off! Had to share.”

Linda shared images of the transformation of blackened grout back to its original grey hue after treatment.

The product behind the miracle is none other than Stardrops Mould and Mildew Remover, known for tackling tough stains and fungal growths alike.

Group members in the comments asked where this spray could be purchased, to which Linda replied: “I ordered it from Warrior Warehouse for 98p but they sell it cheap in B&M and Home Bargains too.”

For cleaning enthusiasts who prefer sticking to natural methods, experts from Victorian Plumbing recommend utilising baking soda to combat the grime.

They advised: “A great trick here is to mix some baking soda with a little water in a bowl as these products will combine to form a paste which when worked into the grout with a toothbrush.

“This mixture will easily cut through the dirt without causing any damage.” After adding the paste to the grout, allow the solution to sit for around 30 minutes.

Afterwards, simply rinse off with clean water and mop up any residue with a suitable cloth such as a microfibre cloth.

The only drawback to this method is that it needs a lot of elbow grease, especially if the grout is heavily stained.
