NRL star Xavier Savage announces his engagement to partner Taliah Simbolon: 'The next chapter in our love story'

NRL star Xavier Savage has shared some happy news this week!

He and partner Taliah Simbolon are engaged after a romantic Las Vegas proposal.

The Canberra Raiders player, 22, who hails from Cairns, popped the question in front of the Bellagio Hotel and Casino and its famous fountain.

Savage, who is a fullback and winger, shared the news with fans and followers on Instagram, along with some images from the special moment.

"Writing the next chapter in our love story 💍🤍," he wrote underneath the images.

The sports star added the hashtag: "#MrsSavageonwayz."

"Here's to forever baby," his new fiancée commented underneath.

Cronulla Sharks player Nicho Hynes commented: "Hecticcc! Congratulations fam <3."

Fellow Canberra Raiders player Jamal Fogarty added: "Proud of you my son <3."

"Congrats guys," replied former Canberra teammate Jack Wighton. 

"Congratulations @xaviersavage__ and Taliah 💚," the Canberra Raiders added in their own post about the engagement.

Simbolon shared some extra details about the proposal with her followers.

She explained her husband-to-be claimed they were taking pictures for the NRL of players on holiday before he surprised her by proposing.

"How did I fall for that?" she said.

"Thank you everyone for all the congratulations! I see all the comments and I appreciate it so much! So overwhelming! <3"

She added: "Left Aus as a girlfriend. Coming back as a fiancée."

Savage's team, the Raiders, is currently in Las Vegas for Round 1 of the NRL for 2025. 

The Raiders, the New Zealand Warriors, Penrith Panthers and Cronulla Sharks are the four teams who have travelled to the US for the opening round of the season.

The teams have headed over with family and loved ones, which also gave Savage the perfect chance to pop the question. 

The talented sports star has been playing for the Canberra Raiders since 2021 and is believed to be signed to the club until 2027.
