Outlander viewers have been hotly debating which characters are the “best” in the series, with some arguing that Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) don’t make the cut.
Fans of the Starz show have been sharing their opinions online ahead of its return next month, with season 7, part 2 set to drop in just a few weeks’ time.
The epic fantasy romance show, based on author Diana Gabaldon’s popular book series of the same name, recently wrapped filming on its eighth and final series, leaving fans emotional.
After watching the show for more than a decade and - once the series is complete - over 100 episodes, fans have been looking back on their favourite performances.
Taking to Reddit a user with the handle @AnonUsername557799 revealed which characters made the top of their list.
They wrote: “By far… the best characters are Hugh Munro the begger and Geillis Duncan.
“No spoilers please I’m still only finishing season 3. I just felt the need to give a little praise and a controversial hot take.” (sic)
In the comments section, fans debated which characters were their favourites, with one replying: “What? You mean the best characters overall in the show? [laughing emoji] Well that’s a hot take.” (sic)
Others firmly disagreed with this analysis, with some replying “Nope” and “No way”.
Meanwhile, another threw one more name into the mix, quipping: “You’re just gonna do the Duke of Sandringham dirty like that?!” (sic)
However, another fan actually agreed with the original poster, writing: “I love Hugh! Geillis is probably the most enjoyable villain to watch because she’s so off the wall.
“She’s a horrible person though. For me, Young Ian and LJG are the best characters who are in S3.” (sic)
So, that means on the list of underrated characters so far, we have: Geillis Duncan (Lotte Verbeek), Hugh Munro (Simon Meacock), the Duke of Sandringham (Simon Callow), Ian Fraser Murray (John Hunter Bell) and Lord John Grey (David Berry).
